Proverbs 24:3

“By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established.”

Q: If the highest grade fuel powers a NASCAR for a race and fresh alfalfa hay fuels a horse for a derby, how is the Word of God the most high-octane fuel for a successful life?

God’s Word fuels my wisdom and understanding which allow me to live a life of joy and peace.

Proverbs 24:14

“Know that wisdom is thus for your soul; If you find it, then there will be a future, and your hope will not be cut off.”

Q: Describe how personally reliant you are on God’s Word for guiding your daily decisions.

Example: “I pray in the morning and when I go to bed, but I am not constantly praying to Him throughout the day to help me with daily decisions. I try to tackle the small things on my own.”

Psalms 119:1-4, 119:151

“How blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the Lord. How blessed are those who observe His testimonies, who seek Him with all their heart. They also do no unrighteousness; they walk in His ways. You have ordained Your precepts, that we should keep them diligently.”

“You are near, O Lord, and all Your commandments are truth.”

Q: If the only wealth you ever possessed was the amount of Scripture you read daily, memorize in your heart and live by consistently, how full would your bank account be? What makes Scripture important to you?

Example: “I like to read God’s Word sometimes, but honestly my bank account is pretty empty right now. I struggle with being inspired to actually study and live by the Word. Scripture is important to me because it brings me closer to God and provides guidance for how I should live.”

Matthew 5:6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.”

Q: What does it mean to hunger and thirst for a “Word-filled” lifestyle? How hungry and thirsty are you today for God’s Word and the fruit it produces in your life?

This means that I yearn to read God’s word because it is will fill me spiritually! Example: “I am hungry and thirsty, but I need to start eating and drinking His Word daily in order to see a real change in my life.”

John 15:5“I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.”

Q: What is the role of God’s Word in keeping your life “on the vine?” Describe the fruit God’s Word is producing in your life today.

His Word keeps me on the vine because I am abiding in Him. Example: “God is producing the fruits of love and joy in my life right now through the scripture I am reading.”

Paul

2 Timothy 3:15-17 “…and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.”

Q: What does “inspired by God” mean as Paul describes the words of Scripture?

God’s Word is “God-breathed.” God literally inspired the entire Bible and used men to write it.

Peter

1 Peter 2:1-2“Therefore, putting aside all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander, like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation.”

Q: What is the exhortation in this passage saying to you today?

I need to yearn to be in the Word every day that I may grow in my relationship with God. It is like milk to a newborn baby – ESSENTIAL!

APPLICATION: How do these passages relate to me today? What changes do they bring to my life?
