Mark these Key Words: Crucify, Crown, King
John 19:1
“Pilate then took Jesus and scourged Him.”
Luke 24:18-21
“But they cried out all together, saying, “Away with this man, and release for us Barabbas!” 19 (He was one who had been thrown into prison for an insurrection made in the city, and for murder.) 20 Pilate, wanting to release Jesus, addressed them again, 21 but they kept on calling out, saying, “Crucify, crucify Him!”
How do you relate personally to what happened to Barabbas that day?
“Personal Answer” (Jesus died for everyone, especially Barabbas! It is easy to view Barabbas as a bad man and the worse than us, because he committed murder and other unmentionable deeds. We can’t miss this great picture of the Gospel! Barabbas gets released from his chains while Jesus, who is completely innocent, is put on a Cross to be executed. Personally, we need to view Barabbas’ sin the same as our sin, and that Jesus has set us free from our chains no matter how guilty we are).
