Slavery, Prison, and Crazy Dreams

Day 1 – THAT’S A COLORFUL COAT!

Read Genesis 37:1-36. What happened here?
Why did Joseph’s brothers sell him into slavery?
Has something bad ever happened to you even though you did nothing wrong?
How can you learn from how Joseph responded?

Day 2 – I AM INNOCENT

Did Joseph do anything wrong to deserve prison?
Can you imagine how Joseph felt? Have you ever been wrongly accused?
What happened to Joseph in prison?
Do your circumstances, no matter how bad they may be, happen for a reason?

Day 3 – FAT COWS AND SKINNY COWS

Read Genesis 41. How did Joseph get out of prison? What did the king do for Joseph?
Joseph went from slave, to prison, to second in command of Egypt. Now do you believe hard times happen for a reason? Did Joseph have to be patient with God’s timing?

Give it a try!

Esther was like Joseph in that she was a Jewish girl who God placed in a high position in an ungodly kingdom. Esther was the queen.  In both Joseph and Esther’s stories, God used each of them to save His people. Read Esther 4:14. This is the moment that Esther was challenged to risk death in asking the King to save her people. “For such a time as this…” Look around where God has placed you. Think about your school, your friends, or maybe even your sports team. Is God asking you to step up for Him? There are many people He wants to save today!

Day 4 – WE NEED FOOD

Read Genesis 42:1-38
What does Joseph do for his brothers? What does he ask of his brothers?

Day 5 – WE HAVE TO GO BACK

Read Genesis 43:1-44:34
Today, read more of the details of Joseph’s story and how he sees if his brothers have changed or if they are still hateful people who seek to do wrong.
How did Joseph’s brothers change?
Do you believe that people change? Do you give them a chance to change?
