Salvation Theology Part 1

Mark these Key Words: Light, Christ, Letter

REGENERATION (Grace Alone)

Ephesians 2:8 & 9

“For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.”

How do you define “grace”? What is one area of your life that God has shown you grace?

IMPUTATION (His righteousness on my account)

2 Corinthians 5:21

“He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

What are three examples in which Jesus demonstrated in His life that He “knew no sin”?

PROPITIATION (God’s Wrath Satisfies – Exodus 25, 36)

Romans 3:23

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

We all fall short of the glory of God. What are two ways in your life that you fall short of the glory of God?

JUSTIFICATION (The LAW is satisfied – sufficient evidence – to be declared righteous; the gavel drops – pronounced innocent)

Romans 5:1

“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

What is “peace”? What does that look like in your life, or what could that look like if you do not feel like you are experiencing peace?

SALVATION (Sealed)

Ephesians 1:13

“In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation – having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise.”

Romans 8:36

“Just as it is written, ‘For your sake we are being put to death all day long; we were considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”

How did God promise salvation in Jesus? What does that mean to you?
