God is Gracious

Day 1 – Read Ephesians 2:8

This verse tells us that by grace we have been saved through faith.
It also tells us that grace is a gift from God.
You are a sinner, and you deserve to be separated from God for eternity. He is not okay with being separated from you, so He gave you His Son, who did not sin, and He took your punishment for sin on the cross. Because of Jesus, you get eternity, a gift you don’t deserve.

Day 2 – Read Ephesians 2-8Write the verse out. Memorize this verse today.

Day 3

Have you ever gotten anything that you didn’t deserve? Explain what it was and how you felt when you received it.
How do you think God is gracious to you?

Give it a try!

The hardest time to give someone grace is when someone is mean or does something bad to you. They don’t deserve your kindness to them, but you should do it anyway. Why?

Think about how many times you hurt Jesus by sinning.

No matter how you hurt God, He still gives you grace!

Day 4

Imagine if you had to take a test at school that you didn’t study for at all. Let’s pretend this test was so important that you couldn’t pass on to the next grade unless you got a certain score. What if while you were taking the test, you decide to cheat, and while looking on your friend’s paper your teacher catches you. You are sent to the principal’s office knowing you deserve to not move on to the next grade. Now imagine the principal and your teacher coming into the room and telling you they decided to give you a second chance to take the test. You didn’t deserve a second chance. In fact, there was nothing you could do to get a second chance, only they could give it to you. The principal and teacher would have given you the gift of grace.

Does this story help you understand how God is gracious? Romans 6:23 states that you deserve death. You deserve to be apart from God forever because you sin. God is gracious by sending us His Son to die on the cross. Because of Jesus, we get what we don’t deserve: a relationship with God forever.

Day 5

How can you be gracious to someone else today? Think of some ideas and go be gracious. When have you needed God’s grace?
