Day 1 – Read Exodus 3:13-15
God has many names, and all His names describe who He is. Your Bible is translated into your language so you see the word “God” or “Lord,” If you read the original language of the Bible, you would see different names of God. Yahweh (pronounced “Yaw Way”) is a Hebrew name for God that is used the most in the Bible. It is used more than 6,000 times. It is His most common name. In Exodus, Moses asks God what to tell Israel His name is, and God uses “Yahweh.” Your Bible says the words “I Am.” God is telling us that He is God, and He has always been there and always will be.
Day 2 – Read Psalm 83:18 and write it out
This is a different verse in the Bible that uses the word Yahweh. You see the word Lord. Memorize this verse.
Day 3
This week, you read two verses that show God’s most common name “Yahweh.” Remember that this means He has always existed and always will. If God is always going to be there, what does that mean for you?
If God has always been there, why should you trust Him?
Day 4
It isn’t crazy for God to have many names. You have many names. You have a first name given to you by your parents. More than likely, it is your most common name like “Yahweh” is God’s most common name. You are also called daughter/son, brother/sister, friend, and might even have a nickname or two from different experiences. Someday, you girls might be called mom, and you guys might be called dad. Later on in life, you will be called either grandmom or granddad. Your names are based on the different relationships you have with people. The same is true for God. His names are based on how we have a relationship with Him. They tell us something about Him and about our relationship with Him.
Give it a try!
Here are some of the other names of God used in the Bible:
El Shaddai – Lord God Almighty
Jehovah- Raah – The Lord is my Shepherd
Jehovah Rapha – The Lord that heals
Jehovah Shammah – The Lord is there
Jehovah Jireh – The Lord will provide
El Elyon – The Most High God
Adonai – Lord, Master
Immanuel – God with us
These are just a few of God’s names. Isn’t it cool that you have learned about some of them in this study?
Day 5Write down all the reasons why you are thankful that God has always existed and why you are thankful that God always will. Put this list in your room somewhere.
