2 Timothy 2:1-2

P’s and Q’s : II Timothy 2:1-2

“You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.” (verse 1)

  • “Strong in Grace” – Grace is unmerited favor both in what we receive from God and what we give to others.

“The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” (verse 2)

  • What is Paul describing to Timothy in this verse?

Paul is describing discipleship which involves pouring into others that they may better know Christ and continuing sharing the good news with even more people.

  • Look deeply, and you can see a baton being passed three times. Who are the three passes to?
  • Paul -> Timothy
  • Timothy -> Faithful men
  • Faithful men -> Others

  • What is the baton being passed here? (Hint: read the first seven words of this verse again.)

“Things which you have heard from me” – truths about Christ in scripture. The Gospel!!!

  • Look at Matthew 28:19(a) – “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations.” What 3 words stick out in your mind?
